I had the pleasure of visiting New Zealand back in October last year and have only now got round to uploading my video diary of my time there. I've been to New Zealand a few times now, both times before being when I was a lot younger and joined by family. This time was different and I was able to see a lot more of the country. My friend Louisa joined me, and we split the time we had there between both islands.

The majority of our holiday was spent in a van we called Terry, driving around the South Island eating noodles and porridge. That sounds terrible really, but it was honestly very fun. We saw and did some incredible things, including boat tours, glowworms, Lord of the Rings locations, rivers, bunji jumping, zorbing, kea birds, lakes, art, lugeing, The Remarkables and various other mountain ranges, Maori culture experiences and mueseum after mueseum. The highlight for me was visiting Milford Sound and kayaking in Harrison Cove. We filled our bottles with fresh Harrison River water and heard some interesting stories about moose. You'll notice theres literally about 3 seconds of footage of us on the water, but this was because we only had a low charged go pro with us at the time! I was way too scared to take my camera out considering this was my first kayaking experience.

I took a total of 900+ videos whilst there, and below is an attempt to arrange it into something worth watching. I've always wanted to try doing this whenever I've been on holiday in the past, so I'm quite pleased that I stuck with it and have something to show at the end! I made this for Louisa and I to remember our experience, but please enjoy.

The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton

I'm filing this book under a book a friend recommended. I went to visit my friend Laura who I've known for years. We were best friends in high school and I love that I still go to see her. It's not very often, but it's enough and it's good.

Last time I went to see her she told me she'd just finished reading The Miniaturist and that she had really enjoyed it. Recommendation received!

I actually enjoyed it. It's not something I would have ever picked up myself. I do love period novels, but the blurb didn't draw me in. I hate anything to do with dolls and puppets and I got that kind of vibe from the description.

Anyways, it was great. Set in 17th Century Amsterdam and focusing on the life of a woman named Petronella whom had recently married a man named Johannes Brandt. The story, names and dollhouse are based on a real life dollhouse. I haven't read much about it, but I'm fairly certain thats true!

There were a few things I really would have liked more of. The actual miniaturist herself didn't get much of a story and I would have loved to learn more about her.

I've slowed down on the reading which I'm quite disappointed about. I'm hoping it will pick up again as I've got a small pile lined up on my desk.

40 Days of Dating by Timothy Goodman & Jessica Walsh

I followed the blog this book originated from whilst is was being released. I found it a really interesting idea that these two people were posting daily updates on their dating experiment and I would check it everyday to see the latest instalment. I can't tell if I was 'rooting' for them, because I honestly just found the very idea that these two friends could try it amazing.
The second time I read it, in the book, the self evaluations and honesty really made me think about myself as a person. I like to think I know myself pretty well, but maybe not?

I don't want to go on too much, but rather just suggest that this book is worth reading. The whole story is up online, but what the book offers is the reality of what happens next. There's a whole other set of journal entries after the experiment which details the events of what happens after the 40 days are over. It's a really interesting read, even if it doesn't do anything for you personally.

I'd like to point out that I've also read 2 other books from Maggie Stiefvater's series, but alas! I feel they don't count because they fall under the same category as before. This makes me feel like I'm not doing too great on the list, but I'm determined that it'll pick up again. I'm already onto my next and I've got a pile sitting lined up for when I'm finished.
I'm counting 40 Days of Dating as a book with a number in the title.

Yes Please by Amy Poehler

I both laughed and cried at this book. I was a fan of Amy Poehler before reading and now I think of her as one of my role models. There are plenty of woman with strong voices out there killing it at the moment, and Amy is definitely one of them.
I'm a fan of any women who have the courage not to be ashamed of what they love. I try hard to project that myself and women like Amy Poehler help me and encourage that journey.

I could read a whole book of her just talking about her children. I could read another simply on her behind the scenes stories whilst working on SNL. I could have done with more Parks and Recreation related tales, but understandably thats the most recent chapter of her life.

Amy Poehler takes sense. I love people who talk sense.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves Amy Poehler and her work, but also to anyone who needs a little pick me up. She's great at giving you confidence, is funny as hell and passionate about her job and love of improv. I really enjoyed this book and hope others get the same feeling of love from that I do.
February 27th is my best friends birthday so I took a few days off work to visit her in Edinburgh! I arrived by train and met Fiona for a quick lunch at a place called The Edinburgh Larder. I'd been craving a full breakfast for weeks and weeks and we picked this place specifically for that. However we arrived just after twelve when they had just finished serving breakfast. I was gutted.

I eventually got to meet baby Dylan who is Fiona's sister in law's baby. He is the cutest little thing, though I'm pretty sure he gave me his bug. I had a bad case of sickness on Friday night, as did Fiona and baby's grandfather. Surely not a coincidence?
Even looking at these photos now I'm getting sickness memories!
I say this a lot whenever I go down to Edinburgh, but I love Fiona's family. They're the type of people that treat you like one of their own. I've only met Moira and Robert a few times, yet I can sit down and have lunch with them when Fiona goes to a meeting. It's comfortable and welcoming.
Moira gave me a piece of her famous beetroot cake which was warm and with cream.
On Thursday morning I'm pleased to say I finally got the breakfast I'd been craving. Mimi's bakery was the destination of our dream breakfast. Thick slices of french toast, syrup and bacon. Fiona's had sausages and tomatoes. It was breakfast heaven and we were stuffed for the rest of the day.
We also headed down to The Game Masters exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland. You pay to get in and are allowed to play with all these retro and modern games freely until the exhibition closes. We ended up playing some old school Donkey Kong, Pacman, Asteroids, Space Invaders and I had a few rounds on Elevator Action. I think that and Pacman were my favourite from the older machines. I also played some Mario 64 and we both had a go at Super Mario Bros and Harry Potter Lego, which was harder than it looked! We couldn't get past the troll in the girls bathroom. Seriously, how do you get past that thing?!

There's was a rule about no photography which was a shame, but I still took a sneaky photo of Fiona. Those machines were too cool not too.

WARNING : I will most like talk plot points, so SPOILERS.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

This series is my new current obsession. I went into this not expecting too much, as I made the time honoured mistake of judging a book by its cover. The sheer mention of 'true love' made me question whether this was going to be another twilight mistake. However, I'm so pleasantly surprised by this story. I love it.

I have a deep love for witches, psychics, myths, legends and all things magical, and this book does a good job of including those, whilst somehow not over doing it.
The story does focus on the inevitable relationship between Blue and Gansey, yet somehow doesn't make it the main plot interest. There's plenty of other plot points that are far more interesting. The mystery of Noah, possibly one of my favourite characters, and the abusive relationship with Adam and his father had me on the verge of tears.
I just think this book does a great job of making me love these characters. They're all so different and so complex. I'm dying to read the next two to hear more about Ronan's back story. I'm aware that Gansey will eventually sneak his way into Blue's heart and I'm waiting for the confrontation and heart ache of poor Adam, who I guess will be cast aside. It's going to hurt, and I'm going to love it.

Adam is possibly my favourite character, along with Blue. I love Adam's independence and unwillingness to let others have any say over his life. Except of course for the relationship he has with his father, which somehow makes him more human than any of the other characters. His story arc builds till be eventually breaks.
Blue is such a strong person. She's sensible, which I like. I've read so many books where the main protagonist is strong, yet kind of foolish or reckless. Blue seems to be aware of the consequences of her actions, which is refreshing.

I've probably said enough. I ordered the next two in the series and cannot wait for them to arrive. I need my fix!
I had a look to see what I could categorise this under on the list, and I think I'll count it as my book with magic. I want to read the rest but I'm not sure I'll count them in the final total.
Onto the next one!

I've Posted so much today!
I haven't done a Simple Sunday in a while, and today is such a simple sunday that I couldn't pass it up.

I was in London from Wednesday to Friday for work. I don't know about you, but having a few hectic days followed by two completely non hectic days is such a weird experience. I don't really know what to do with myself.

Whilst I was travelling down, I started on one of the next books in my reading challenge list. I'm not sure what made me want to read this book, as at first I was a bit sceptical, but I pulled it out on the train and pretty much had to force myself to stop and get some work done. I've wrote a quick update on it which will be posted soon in the reading challenge tag.

Anyways! I've now finished the book and I've become a little obsessed. I love that feeling of being so into a book series that it sits constantly at the forefront of your mind. I haven't found a book like that in a while so I'm very happy. There's honestly no better feeling. Books can have such power.

True to my habits, I've started sketching the characters. I don't know if anyone else does this, but I tend to build up this image of what certain characters look like then try my darned hardest to project that onto paper. There' something very satisfying about seeing characters slowly take physical form in front of you.
I sat until two this morning doodling away. I'm very happy with them, but I'm not the best at showing people what I draw. I'm still a bit self conscious because I tend to see flaws in everything I do. I've posted one, which you can see above. Im still not great at drawing hands, so I've tried to include this in each of these sketches so I can get my practise in.
I tend to have to tell myself a lot not to be embarrassed by what I create. It's definitely a confidence issue. I have to mentally yell at myself to be brave and upload stuff. Theres a little voice in my head that's scared people will judge or tell me it's not good. Which hey, it might not be.
I draw/paint for myself in the end. Which is why it is so rare for me to upload anything to big ol' internet. The internet can be a scary place, after all.

I know I'm not the only one who suffers this. There's a lot of negativity out there, and I for one just try to avoid that as much as I can. It can make it difficult to want to put ourselves out there and not have our say. Today I'm feeling brave, so I'm embracing that.

I know I've rambled on a bit about something so minor as posting a picture, but it's a topic I'm constantly debating with myself about, and I wanted to say my piece.

hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

Love Labours Lost by William Shakespeare

I've been getting into my Shakespeare a lot recently. I have to thank web adaptations for that, particularly 'Nothing Much to Do' by the Candle Wasters on Youtube. A blog series adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing'. I read that play not long after binge watching the entire series. When I heard they were doing a second series with the same characters but based loosely on the plot of Love Labours Lost, I had to read it.
The second series by the Candle Wasters will be called Lovely Little Losers, and is hopefully coming out this year! They've been filming this month. First instalment is here, a little christmas teaser.

Vlogs aside, this wasn't my favourite Shakespeare play. I did enjoy parts of it and the humour was quite funny, but in the end it didn't sit with me as well as Much ado About Nothing. I did however like the ending, with the promise that they shall meet again in a year and a day to see if their love was real. That sounds very vague, but I think I prefer the idea that it didn't all come to a rosy end.

Over all it was okay though. I'm more excited about the Candle Wasters version of the play, I seriously cannot wait.
If Shakespeare is your thing, I also recommend watching the theatre version of Much Ado starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate. That version is hilarious. I was honestly laughing so hard watching it. David Tennant is fabulous in it and does great credit to the role.
Last month I was lucky enough to be in France skiing with my family. We also went last year, and it was my first time strapping on the skis. This year, I was so pleased to realise I could still do it!
I started off with lessons at the beginning of the week, hoping to pick up where I left off and improve, but by day two had cancelled them. I felt confident enough to carry on and just practice.

However! on the third day, disaster struck. I woke up feeling a little worse for wear.

Went out in the morning and managed to throw myself all over the mountain, but by lunch felt like I was possibly going to faint. I headed back to the chalet and collapsed on the bed, not to be heard of again until a few hours later. When I woke up I was so hot, had bumps all over my arms and a headache. Those symptoms didn't really leave me for the rest of the week. It's quite annoying being on holiday and not being able to enjoy it. I had only mustered up enough energy to try again on the last day, and even then had to bow out by lunch. I think it's quite important when you're skiing to be in control of what you're doing. Being ill tends to take that control away and that's when accidents happen. I'm kind of gutted that I didn't manage to get out that much, but at the same time I enjoyed what time I did.
As apposed to last year, we were in a catered chalet this time. Our chalet hosts name was Joe. He was such a lovely person, and his cakes tasted so much better than mine. His victoria sponge was ridiculous.

We had two birthdays whilst in Flaine, my mums and my roommate, Maureen. On Thursday Joe spent the morning cutting out a happy birthday template for the cake. Such a sweet thing to do. Note the messy little gluten free muffins for Steve!
Flaine as a resort is beautiful. The valley is so picturesque. I think my favourite part was this little split in the mountains where you can see through to the valley beyond. The trees that lined it were just so nice.
Check out the view from our bedroom window!

The first day we arrived we also got driven around in a snow buggy. This thing doesn't look like much, but the experience was pretty fun. The driver didn't have to slow down on corners and certainly didn't. I was terrified I was going to fall out!
I'm currently doing driving lessons at the moment. At this point I had only had 4, and I was a bit too keen to drive this thing. It would have ended so badly!

Looking forward to next years trip! Hopefully it won't end so horribly. I'll be sure to take all my vitamins and build up my immune system before I go!
A much delayed selection of photos from my trip up to Inverness for new years! My friend Steven took his big fancy camera with him and took some really nice photos. I meant to post them sooner but totally forgot!
It was a really fun weekend. We stayed with Louisa and her family and went into town for the bells. The Red Hot Chilli Pipers were playing on the stage and we took an awful disposable camera selfie at midnight! I got the photos back last week and it's so blurry!

Below are some of my iPhone photos too. Lesser quality than Stevens and heavily filtered ;)
The Scorch Trails + The Death Cure by James Dashner

I finally finished this series! I read the last instalment whilst on holiday in France about 2 weeks ago so I'm a little fuzzy on the details of The Scorch Trails. Overall I thought the series was great, though at points a little heartbreaking. Chapter 55 of The Death Cure, anyone? I was a mess.

The whole story was really fast paced, I couldn't put it down. I was also satisfied with the ending. There's always a risk with ending a series. As a reader there's always an ending you predict in your head and the strong likelihood that it just won't happen that way. I'm not sure how I wanted it to end, but I guess I was okay with all that happened.

Now I guess I'll just wait until the next film is out and wonder how the hell they're going to translate it all into something!

So that's me ticking off the trilogy on the reading list which I posted here. I'm already halfway through my next book! This one's a play.

WARNING - Will probably contain some spoilers.

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

First book of the year completed! I read this whilst in Inverness last week and couldn't put it down. I must admit that I only wanted to read this series because I watched the movie. Although I greatly enjoyed the film version, as always the book was far better.
I don't want to write a comparison of the book to film, but I will say that it lacked a lot of the tension that I felt the book had. Whilst reading I was constantly fearing for Thomas's well being. The other characters have such aggression towards each other and are unpredictable in their actions, as apposed to the somewhat quick acceptance that seems to happen in the film. I understand that films have to condense what is days of character development in a book, down to an hours worth of something in a movie, but I still felt it all came a bit too easy.
There were also a few major changes that I didn't understand. The main one being the lack of telepathic communication between Thomas and Teresa. Why did they leave that out?!
I actually really enjoyed that secret bond that they had in the book and I think it helped flesh out her character a lot more. In the end I really liked Teresa.
Movie now aside what I most enjoyed about this book was, like always with me, the characters. What really draws me into a story is the characters and The Maze Runner did a good job of making me both hate and love certain people. Every moment with Gally had me wanting to slap him silly, and every time Newt panicked, or Minho spoke up I was instantly interested. The final scene with Chuck made me an emotional mess.
The story overall was pretty interesting. I'm really intrigued to know the full extent of what is going on outside the maze. It must be pretty tragic that it can force humanity to have to experiment on children in order to make a change. Even at worst I'm not sure such an act could be the best solution. The mental strain these children go through is horrific. However, as with all good stories it ends with you understanding less about whats going on and curious about what could possibly come next after such a roller coaster of a story.
Although I thought this book would most probably be aimed towards a teenage audience, and don't get me wrong it kind of is, I still really enjoyed it. I've started on the second already and was a bit disturbed by whats happened within the first few chapters of that!
Everybody's opinion is obviously different dependant on what you like to read. If you like a bit of sci-fi, and a bit of action and intrigue then this is probably the book for you. Is pretty easy to read as well.

Review over. I could say so much more but I'm not great at reviewing literature, being a pretty bad writer myself. Grammar? Pah.

I'm including this in my challenge under the trilogy, so I still have the other two to read before I can safely tick that off. I'm aware this series has a prequel book, but for the sake of this challenge I'm only going to count The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trails and The Death Cure.

Sorry it's so late, I've been wandering from Wales to Edinburgh and finally Inverness over the holidays. It feels so good to finally have a weekend where I do absolutely nothing and get the chance to be in my own head for a bit. I don't know about anyone else, but I need an occasional day where I talk to no one.

I always feel most at home at Christmas when I'm in Wales. Which makes no sense really as it isn't my home. Hazel and G's little house fully packed with family, squishing up together to watch the TV, the single bed I get assigned with an electric blanket, G and I sitting in silence reading our books and crowding round the dining table to eat. Hazel always over buys food and we're offered something to eat every hour. It's probably very similar to most peoples Christmas, but non the less I love all those little things that make the day.

We are now well on our way into 2015 so talking about Christmas is now a bit outdated I suppose, but I never got a chance to post some of my favourite moments of Christmas 2014. So here I go!

We left at 4am in the morning of the 24th, arriving at about lunch in Carmarthen. I went to visit some friends in the pub the night before in my home town so I hadn't slept much. I went for a much needed nap as soon as we arrived, waking up fresh as a daisy at about three for a shower and some food. Anyways, I won't go into an hour by hour recount of the day.

Needless to say, everyone woke up on the day bright and early and some went for a walk. Presents were given, and we had some tea and toast whilst the dinner was made.

We were down until the 28th, so Christmas day aside there were a few walks, a trip to the pub to see friends and a bit of shopping on Saturday. It was on Saturday that I purchased my yellow Seasalt wellies. I am in love with these wellies. (photos in next post)

We also visited a gorgeous little vintage shop that sells everything. It's when I'm in shops like that, that I wish I owned my own house and had the money to buy furniture and decorate. Such beautiful things.

Anyways, time for a few photos, most of which were from that little shop.

I read a lot already so I've never needed the encouragement really. However, at the moment I'm struggling to try new things and instead keep going back to my old favourites.
So next year I'm going to be trying out Popsugar's 2015 Reading Challenge. I saw this online and after reading through the list decided it seems pretty exciting.
I'll tick them off as I go and post a small review on here!

My parents left this morning! Bright and early at 9am.
This of course meant I myself was up at eight and I'm paying for it this evening. I was so close to having an afternoon nap but managed to pull through. Life is so hard, right? ha.

I bought a bike a while ago so that travelling to and from work at night became less of a scary-wander -down-back-alleys-waiting-for-something-to-jump-out-at-me ordeal. Today I eventually got round to getting a helmet and light so I'm safe and visible whilst out. Don't want any stray cars hitting me as I'm riding about!
I did a practice run to and from work this morning. I have a route I'm used to already, but that path isn't very accessible via bike. Most of it was downhill on the way TO the office. The way back is as you would imagine, very uphill. I struggled.

I always love days when I actually wake up early and get out of the house to do something, but those don't seem to happen very often when it's not a week day. I feel like I've gotten so much done and it's only 6pm. I'll be ready for bed in a bit!
After fighting the urge to sleep I made some puff pastry bites with my own tomato relish, avocado, bacon and mozzarella. They were actually fab and I'll post a recipe up at some point. Such an easy snack to make.
And because I'm prone to something sweet along with my savoury, I made cupcakes. They look at bit grey in the photos but they're actually a lovely shade of pastel purple. They taste pretty fab too.

Now what do I do with my Sunday evening? I'm tired but not ready for bed. I'm not hungry but I have a mound of cupcakes to eat. And for the first time in forever I'm pretty much all caught up on my tv!
Might be best to just call it a day and watch a movie in bed.

Hope y'all have had a nice pleasant Sunday afternoon.
They both drove up in the morning, had a cup of tea and then we jetted of for a walk around St Andrews.
I think overall St Andrews is a nicer place to stroll through compared to Dundee. It's a much more quaint town and it doesn't seem to be overrun with huge chain shops yet, which is a nice change to the city centre here.
We stopped for lunch at a place called Mitchell. This place just screams comfort from the outside. They had bags of fresh veg sitting outside and a deli up front with cheese, wine, meat, jams, chutneys, you name it! That's my personal idea of heaven. Inside had a rustic vibe with good basic food that was more about the produce than the complexity. Think anti pasti and big sandwiches.
I ordered a typical ploughman's with smoked ham, cheese and chutney. My mum had a classic breaded fish and chips and Steve pesto chicken. He had to avoid the gluten.
Afterwards we had a massive binge in the deli. I bought some pate, turkish delight, christmas coffee and stroopwaffels. My mum bought similar, but with a mulled cider spices for next weekend.

We headed back to the flat in the afternoon to watch the rugby, then went back out again for some dinner at Rishi's.
Rishi's is a new indian restaurant that has opened near me quite recently. They served the best pakora I've ever tried. Apart from that I spent the majority of the meal trying to work out what kind of fish was in my curry. Turns out it was kingfish so that was a new one for me!

Hope everyone else had a foodtastic weekend. I'm off to bake!
I woke up with every intention of having a lazy day. I wanted to lie on the sofa, maybe play Mario and catch up with some TV. In the end I sorted out my entire wardrobe. I've found that most of my clothes are sitting untouched now because it's been too cold, so it was nice to swap out all my flouncy shirts for cosy jumpers. Bring on the maroons, navy blues, mustard yellows and evergreens.

I also made a Jossy's Lemon Pudding Delicious from the Leon Baking & Puddings book. This recipe is beyond tasty. I cannot put into words how tasty this recipe is. Light and airy but soft and sticky underneath. The recipe calls to put the soufflé dish in a tray of water whilst in the oven. I've never tried a recipe that does that before, so I was a bit wary. I found it hard to stop eating it though, so I think it turned out great!
This weeks purchase included jewellery. For anyone that knows me well, I don't wear jewellery. That's not to say I don't like it, just that I get fed up of wearing it very easily. I really loved this though after seeing it on Etsy. Also, how weird does my hand and arms look in that photo?

And that's all for this Sunday. It's been a fairly uneventful week, but I suppose that happens every now and again.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!
A very non spooky Halloween indeed.

I absolutely love the holidays. I'm a huge sucker for decorating and dressing up. I love buying presents at Christmas and decorating the tree; it's a tradition my mum saves for me coming home. I like to buy pretty easter eggs at easter and I love to dress up at Halloween.
This year I didn't dress up. Not even the tiniest of halloween extras. Fair to say I was pretty gloomy about that. I considered hosting a little party in the flat, but trying to get people to come up to Dundee has always been a bit of an issue. Unfortunately I didn't know anyone who was having a party either.

I wasn't alone though! A late night text to my friend on Thursday turned into a lovely little spontaneous trip to visit me on Friday night. I've found since living here that not a lot of people come to visit, it's usually me going to them, so it was a nice change to have someone up here.
In true Fiona and Cassie fashion we made some dinner, chatted about a lot of nothing and after playing some terrible game on the Playstation made a Skype call to our third musketeer in Australia.
The next morning Fiona helped me buy my 'first adult bike'. Now that the nights are getting darker I feel less safe walking home from work. I haven't had a bike since I was back in primary school, and I honestly can't remember the last time I rode one. Must be about the same time!
What they say is true, you really never forget.
My next step is to buy a helmet. I've had this weird fear of helmets since I was very little. My mum bought me this excellent Winnie the Pooh helmet, but one of the first times I tried it on she managed to catch the skin under my chin in the clip. She did it a few times actually, and every time there was a lot of crying and panicking. To this day I put my hand under the clip and keep it loose before I pull it secure. I'd like to point out that it was always an accident! My mum didn't have some weird mission to make me fear helmets for the rest of my childhood!

Today I'm looking over all these odd random little videos I've managed to accumulate over the past few weeks and am considering what to do with them…

Hope Everyone is having a nice weekend.

This weekend has been about staying in and get rid of all schedules for a small moment. The last few weekends have been pretty packed full of travel and visiting friends and family. I was honestly starting to forget what my flat looked like in the daytime. However, dull gloomy mornings in autumn are a definite bonus for me. I think I actually prefer the darker mornings over a bright summer start to the day. Not sure what that says about me.
So here's to the peaceful weekends! The weekends where it's acceptable to sleep till midday, lie on the sofa and watch rom coms or cheery happy movies that don't require any mental effort. Then maybe make a favourite dinner, catch up on your saturday programs in the evening and maybe if you have the energy go for a wander around town and buy that dress you've been eyeing up for a while. Hey, it's nearly payday, right?

Last weekend I was a no show on here as I was down in Glasgow visiting some friends. Seeing friends you don't hang out with very often is always an interesting experience. You sort of build up a humour and way of talking with people you see regularly, and when in the company of others it can come across completely different. I'm making it sound like something bad happened and I assure you that's not the case.
I just sometimes wonder what kind of impression we leave on people once we've left. We only experience maybe one or two nights of each others company every year and I wonder if opinions change afterwards.
I'm perhaps being too cynical about this and even as I'm typing, I'm wondering if I should even keep it in.
I will.

And with that lovely thought, I'm off to enjoy the blissful comfort of the sofa and perhaps eat a generous bowl of ice cream!
When I was a lot younger I don't think I truly appreciated where I grew up. At that age I was constantly annoyed that living in the country meant having to travel ten minutes in the car to reach my friends. I was never the go outside and play type, more the sit in my bedroom on Bebo type (when that was still a thing) I can't say that's changed very much if I'm to be completely honest. Except the Bebo part. R.I.P Bebo.
However, I now actually take the initiative to wander outside my bedroom when I have no plans. For those that do this daily, I commend you. I'm forever an internet loner.
I lived a few miles away from civilisation and the nearest points of interest to me were two trout farms and a church. Still, if you fancy a walk it's great, and if you fancy an even longer walk head up the road to Loudoun Hill. It's fairly near.
A beautiful moo. They kept staring at me as I was walking past. When you're by yourself that can be quite scary. Cows are pretty big, I often forget that! If one wanted to take me down, I wouldn't stand a chance in hell; a thought that crossed my mind several times on my walk.

This was fun. Steve and I went over towards Loudoun Hill and took the quadcopter out for a fly. Steve currently has about 4 of these in various shapes and sizes. He often shows me all his footage when he gets back (seriously, he goes out flying almost daily) but I had never been out and about with him whilst he was actually flying.
You know those scientists you see in films where they're standing in the middle of a field somewhere trying to track down a signal from an alien spacecraft, or pick up a frequency for some nearby satellite station? Well Steve kind of looks like one of those. Googles on, weird remote controller, standing in a field looking up and the little device is speaking telling him coordinates and altitudes. It was so funny to watch.
He asked me to hold the controller for a few minutes, a rare trust that must be gained with Steve and tech. I think I did a good job not to drop it.
This weekend I was visiting my parents. I always say I'm going 'home' when I head back to my mums, but the reality is that I've not lived there for about 5 years now. There's something about your parents house that will always be 'home' isn't there? It's where you grew up, and it's where you experience that feeling. You know the one, it's comfortable and safe. I don't think I'm going to grow out of saying that anytime soon.
I have some photos I'm going to post tomorrow as I'm just in the door and am too tired to be editing anything.
This weekend was really fun though. I went into Braehead with my mum on Saturday to go shopping for ski clothes for me. I've been saving up for a while, as I really wanted to buy myself a nice ski jacket for my holiday in January. I wore my mums last year and it was just a bit too big for me. I had only planned on getting the jacket, but by the end of the day I had a jacket, ski trousers and a shiny new helmet. All kitted out and ready to go! I then found a £20 note on the side of the street and took my mum out for some lunch! A good day indeed.
Today I went for a lovely walk through the country, took some photos and hopped back in the car to drive back up to Dundee!

Apologies for the brief post. I'll make it up another day!

I really love Sundays because they are the only day of the week where I actually get a chance to relax. I think posting on Sundays might be a good idea. More likely than not, I'll have some free time to sit down and write about anything that's happened this week.
I've posted twice today, but this was mainly because I was too tired to write up anything when I got in last night. Ideally I would have liked to post that yesterday. However, lucky you gets two posts today!

I thought it might be nice to do a quick life update, like what I used to do on here a few years back. Since then I've graduated and have been working at an app company as their lead designer. My first year in a full time job was maybe a bit different from most peoples experience. We struggled to get an office so work involved signing in on Skype every morning for a catch up. It was a difficult way to work and did ultimately take an impact on my mentality. Nothing too serious, just some bouts of sadness or cabin fever. I'm quite a sociable person and rely a lot on my peers, so having no one around me for a while and no outlet or routine was a struggle. I think this was because I had been constantly surrounded by people for 4 years whilst I was at Uni, and the contrast between that environment to living alone and a new job was distressing.
Luckily I have some pretty amazing friends who I could talk to and they helped to pull me out of that when it got to be too much. This July we managed to eventually move into a space and since then it's been much better. After a year of working from home, getting back into the routine of waking up earlier and leaving the house actually improved my work and rekindled my love for design again. It was slowly sucking the passion out of creating for me, and I'm glad to have found that again.

I've also been living alone, like I mentioned earlier, and that's been a new experience for me too. Since my time at uni I've lived in a flat with 6, 5, 8 and finally 2 others in different years. Each year had it's pros and cons, but I think living in my own space has been far more exciting. Apart from all the negatives I've spoke about already, there are huge cons to having your own place. I don't think I'd go back to sharing again if given the choice!

There have been so many other exciting things that have happened, but I think trying to fit anything else in at the moment might be information overload! Right now I feel like I'm in a much better place than I was last year, and that's why I felt I could talk about it openly on here. This blog was always an outlet for me in the past, and as previously stated in another post, I'm really looking forward to having that again.
Hence post galore! and perhaps an overuse of the word post in this post.

I had an adventure of my own on Friday which was a new experience for me and something I'm planning to write about soon, but for now enjoy my foody day out from yesterday and my tiny little bald patch in the picture above! I bought that jumper yesterday and I think I'm in love with it already.
AUTUMN IS HERE.
I went up to Edinburgh to see my friend Fiona for an afternoon of shopping and food. The latter being more important to us!

In the morning it was absolutely pouring down but it managed to clear up by mid afternoon, which was a nice surprise as we left the restaurant.

Speaking of restaurants (not subtle), we went into a place called Sygn. This place was pretty ace, and was the highlight of the day. We had both never been before so it was a nice surprise inside. There was an american vibe with lots of vintage looking signs and awesome visual design on the menu's. The windows had this weird bottle display which I never got a good photo of, and inside they had an old school popcorn machine that made the place smell amazing.

In the end we were spoilt for choice so we ordered two burgers and had half of each. We chose chorizo & pork and the cajun chicken with a sharing side of halloumi. This was a good call. The place does mainly pizza, hotdogs, salads and nachos, but their portions and food are great.

I think in the end the cocktail we chose was the 'Flying V', containing Tanqueray gin with cherry and violet liqueure, lemon and an absinthe rinse. It tasted a bit like liquorice.

They also had a variety of sauces, one of which was definitely not ketchup but a rather spicy chilli sauce. I realised this too late, don't make my mistake!

Food talk over!

I would love to go back there actually and I know Fiona will be going back because she lives near. Lucky.

After that we were pretty full and I decided to head back at around five so I was home in time for Doctor Who. I have my priorities!
(I'm back?)I left Blogger a while ago to post elsewhere and focus on work in my final year of Uni, and since then have kind of forgotten to keep this space updated.

'IndigoTeacup' is a name I've left behind. I feel a bit sad about this as it's where I used to go speak my thoughts.
Thats not to say I haven't been active on the internet though, and I'll link in another post to some of the other places I frequent to update.

I'm going to try posting on here again. I use my other blog for work related/design posts, but I'd like my old space back to talk about day to day life. I used to find a great amount of joy in blogging, and I can't quite put my finger on why I lost that love. I think it's still there, buried away.

I'm going to start off with my weekend and see how it goes from there!

Yes I'm going to write about yoghurt. I bought this stuff on a whim the other day and it was honestly the highlight of my day. So thick, so creamy and ridiculously tasty. I'm aware I sound like an advert, but it just that good.
I'm not a huge yoghurt person, but over the last few weeks it's been my go to choice for breakfast. I usually just buy some plain natural yoghurt and add some cut up banana and honey. I swear by this combo.

I'll be on the look out for other flavours of The Collective Dairy, their russian fudge and luscious lemon looks fab.
Can't believe I've just given you a yoghurt review. Stay Tuned folks!

I also just found these today. This was a gift from my mum from a while back. I never really use cases for my glasses because they pretty much stay on my face all the time! But I can't deny that this is cute.

Another new experience from this past few weeks has been trying out various Lush products. They're so popular already and I think everyone is pretty much in the loop about what their products are like, but I had never tried their bath bombs before and was pleasantly surprised. After getting over my initial fear that my skin would turn a vivid purple after looking at the colour of the water, I think they're pretty fun. The one pictured below is called Space Girl. This was actually the least exciting of the three I bought, the best being the Big Blue. My bath has been some amazing different shades of blue and purple! Will continue to experiment.

I went shopping today and got me some new dresses! I love autumn because all my favourite types of prints come in. Lots of woodland creatures and fall colours. Autumn has always been my favourite season for clothes, so I'm really looking forward to next month when all the shops will start to really get all their autumn stock in.
